PAINTING NAMES
-

-
This experience will take place at play and inquiry at the U-shaped table.
-
I will have the papers pre folded and I will write the children’s name in light pencil so that they can paint over with the paint brush (similar to writing their names in the morning however there is a twist. They can refer to that experience for an idea of what the task at hand is)
-
The children will paint with paint brushes on one over their names, where I will observe how their grasps are and record them for observation.
-
Children will then take the other half of the paper and fold it so that it is on top of the paint.
-
When we open it I ask the children what they see, or what does the picture look like? Does it remind you of anything? And record their answers in the same chart as the grasps.
ImIt is important to ask children , what they see, sparking imagination and getting them to relate abstract images to their world around them.
Try to make personal connections between children's name, and what it looks like to them
Leaf Hunt Story and Leaf Hunt During Outside Play
Programming Purpose:
The children have had a growing interest in leaves since we went on our nature walk last week and since we created our nature bags. We have begun to notice and take into account different coloured leaves and from different trees. We have a Leaf Hunt book from the library that I am going to read to the children in large group and then we are going to outside for our outdoor time and go on a leaf hunt ourselves. Our goal is to collect many different types of leaves with all different colours. We are going to laminate all the leaves we find and use them in the classroom for sorting, poem reciting, story-telling and even in the discovery area.

This activity was exciting because it was an extension activity to the work that we did in class. I was excited to see the children engage in the book about the leaf hunt and then see the children take the knowledge they learned from that story in the classroom to the actual leaf hunt outside.

It was a beautiful day for the leaf hunt! overall great experience!
